Low on food in Assam, uncertain of the future

Low on food in Assam, uncertain of the future

Makita Daw, 62, from Mishimi Ati village in the flood affected Jorhat district has been facing severe challenges since 8 July 2016. She has a food grain machine which she is unable to use in the absence of electricity. Her livestock is without fodder. As a wage labourer with 7 family members in her family to feed, Makita is worried about not having enough food to feed her family and fodder for her livestock.

Makita is concerned about her family members’ health given the poor hygiene conditions brought on by the flood water. She only hopes her livestock too will not fall ill. Her children are unable to go to school as schools are flooded, while the few which are not, are serving as relief camps.

She is in urgent need of chlorination tablets, food, tarpaulin, sanitation assistance and fodder for her livestock.

Donate generously so that people like Makita can get the relief assistance they urgently need.
