#Repost @likeagirl.co.in (@get_repost) ・・・ We’re thrilled that the Election Commission of India (EC) has appointed Gauri Sawant, one of the 12 election ambassadors from Maharashtra. It's the first time that a transgender person has been appointed as an election ambassador in India. Read her fascinating story to your kids. And remind them gender is fluid and not binary. Our thoughts are with the many Muslim #NewZealand families grieving the loss of their loved ones and to people of the Islamic faith – and all faiths – over the world who have been traumatized by this act of mass murder. #Christchurch . . Please go to the link in bio to read Oxfam’s statement.

“My #mother was very apprehensive about letting me play football. She was concerned that the neighbors will gossip about me when I’ll go out & play in uniform (tee shirt & shorts). No girl in my family has ever worn jeans, so shorts were out of question. Boys in the village used to bully us and pass comments like- they are just girls, they cannot learn football... but we persisted... even when itmeant long hours of practice in the sun after waking up at 5 am every day to make food for our families and attending school later." . . Our #MondayMotivation is this all girls football team from Parsa village, #Bihar who are breaking gender stereotypes & challenging years of #oppression with their determination & perseverance.
