#Repost @likeagirl.co.in (@get_repost) ・・・ We’re thrilled that the Election Commission of India (EC) has appointed Gauri Sawant, one of the 12 election ambassadors from Maharashtra. It's the first time that a transgender person has been appointed as an election ambassador in India. Read her fascinating story to your kids. And remind them gender is fluid and not binary. “My #mother was very apprehensive about letting me play football. She was concerned that the neighbors will gossip about me when I’ll go out & play in uniform (tee shirt & shorts). No girl in my family has ever worn jeans, so shorts were out of question. Boys in the village used to bully us and pass comments like- they are just girls, they cannot learn football... but we persisted... even when itmeant long hours of practice in the sun after waking up at 5 am every day to make food for our families and attending school later." . . Our #MondayMotivation is this all girls football team from Parsa village, #Bihar who are breaking gender stereotypes & challenging years of #oppression with their determination & perseverance.
