“My #mother was very apprehensive about letting me play football. She was concerned that the neighbors will gossip about me when I’ll go out & play in uniform (tee shirt & shorts). No girl in my family has ever worn jeans, so shorts were out of question. Boys in the village used to bully us and pass comments like- they are just girls, they cannot learn football... but we persisted... even when itmeant long hours of practice in the sun after waking up at 5 am every day to make food for our families and attending school later." . . Our #MondayMotivation is this all girls football team from Parsa village, #Bihar who are breaking gender stereotypes & challenging years of #oppression with their determination & perseverance.

"I come from a conservative Punjabi family but my father always inculcated the spirit of individual decision making in me. In 1994, when I was wondering about long working hours in a job that I may get after my MBA, my father told me to not worry about coming home late at night at all. When I was getting married in 2000, he told me that even if you are at the 7th phera and feel you don't want to get married, just get up and leave without thinking what the society would say. I was never taught to 'adjust' in a family after marriage, rather I was taught to be true to myself. I feel this is the way we need to treat our daughters" -Rina Soni, Director, Public Engagement Oxfam India (IN) This #InternationalWomensDay, we celebrate the indomitable spirit of all those women who lead by example. 📸 94.3 Radio One by Pune

Supreme Court's order to evict more than 10 lakh #forest dwellers & #tribals will render thousands of people #homeless. The central #government’s abject failure to protect the rights of these communities is disappointing. #VoiceForInclusion
