Get smart: Children in Odisha use creative learning techniques to improve quality of education

Apart from working on full implementation of the Right to Education (RTE) act, Oxfam India is also trying to improve the quality of education in schools.

Along with our partner, Chale Chalo, Oxfam India is implementing a project on improving quality education in 32 government schools of Sundargarh districts in Odisha. 

As part of the project a series of creative workshops were conducted in the schools. Children participated in these workshops and developed different creative materials. These materials will also be used as teaching Learning Materials.

Subject: Mub Ball Preparation

Venue: Baniguni UP School, Odisha

Children prepare mud balls and give them different colours. This material will be used to enhance learning level on addition, subtraction, understanding the odd and even numbers.

Subject: News Calendar

Venue: Baniguni UP School, Odisha

Children prepare a news calendar which will help develop general knowledge and make them aware on world issues. They cut different news papers clippings and prepare the calendar.

Subject: Letter & Number tree preparation

Venue: Baniguni UP School, Odisha

Children preparing number & letter trees. This material can be used to enhance the learning of the children on numbers, letter recognition, and formation of words. Different joyful games can be organised around these materials.
