Things we have done in Assam

Since violence broke out on December 23, 2014, at least 80 people have lost their lives.

More than 150,000 people have fled from their homes seeking safety in relief camps in Kokrajhar, Chirang and Sonitpur districts.

Oxfam has mobilised its emergency contingency kits to Kokrajhar and other affected areas.

We are providing safe water, food assistance and emergency shelter and shelter sheds in Jamuguri, Kachugaon in Kokrajhar district.

New shelters & toilets are being provided by Oxfam in the camps to address of problem of cramped existing space

Given that shelter is inadequate in the camps and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) are cramped into small rooms in schools and govt buildings, additional shelter is essential.
