The COVID-19 pandemic and the accompanying lockdown created circumstances which appear to have both aggravated the violence faced by women within the home (and also outside it in some cases), and limited their mobility, access to transportation, access to finances, access to social support mechanisms as well as access to crisis support centres, hospitals and police stations.
This submission to the UN Special Rapporteur for Violence Against Women and Girls puts together the case stories and narrations which came from Oxfam India’s areas of community work in the field of Gender Justice.
