Registrations for Oxfam Trailwalker 2018-2019, India’s biggest walkathon have opened. Around 2000 people participated in Oxfam Trailwalker in Mumbai & Bengaluru 2017-2018 edition. Out of these, total of 1844 people completed 100km and 50km trail.

Interested teams can register on the website of Oxfam India Trailwalker https://trailwalker.oxfamindia.org/

This year the picturesque 100km trail is around 67 kms from Mumbai in Karjat. The town is located on a mountainous terrain and spans over regions of the majestic Sahayadri ranges, the Western Ghats as well as the Bhor Ghat. The town lies on the banks of River Ulhas.

The Bengaluru trail starts from the edge of a beautiful valley of Nandi Hills near the ancient Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple and ends at Olde Bangalore resort, Tharbanahalli.

The participating teams this year will have an ambitious target of breaking last year’s fastest team record ‘OGS – Jaguar Security’s’ record of completing 100 kms in 15hrs 44 mins and 50 kms record by ‘SG Runners’ of 6hrs 32 mins.

Oxfam India Trailwalker is a team challenge and the biggest fundraising event in India. The amount raised by teams is used to campaign for education, and health for all, to fight economic, social and gender inequality in the six poorest states of India (Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Assam, Odisha and Uttar Pradesh).

“Oxfam Trailwalker was on my bucket list for a long time. I signed up with three people who were strangers but shared my passion for the cause and desire to challenge themselves. Even though I completed the trail in our first attempt, under 28 hours, I am hankering to do it again. We walked with sprained ankles, paining knees and blistered feet but it was an exhilarating experience,” said Shilpa Pal, member of team Invincible.

Several corporates, Target, Microsoft, Oracle, IBM, TESCO, Accenture, Technicolor, Goldman Sachs, Salesforce, VMware, State Street, Microland, Sony, VISA, Hindustan Petroleum, CLSA, DSP Blackrock, Dun& Bradstreet associate with Oxfam Trailwalker as participants and volunteers.

“Everything is best about Oxfam Trailwalker. It was fantastic - the people, the atmosphere, the ability to actually do something that’s a lot of fun, although very tiring, but at the same time, for such a great cause,” said CEO of Technicolor Frederic Rose.

Oxfam India also organizes free practice walk sessions for participants and interested employees of corporate partners to prepare them for the ultimate team challenge.

Oxfam India along with its long-time partner State Street has constituted an award to recognise the efforts of walkers in Bengaluru.

Oxfam Trailwalker is a zero waste sustainable event and does not harm the environment. We have partnered with ERM Foundation and Saahas Zero waste Mangement to ensure this.  Trailwalker has successfully developed into an international top-notch fundraiser, challenging walkers in 16 cities in 11 countries including Australia, Belgium, England, France, India, Japan, New Zealand, Spain and Hong Kong.
