The project seeks to undertake rights-based advocacy to accelerate the process of implementation of the RTE Act throughout the country. It aims at critical engagement with government to make implementation of the RTE a political agenda and build the synergy among various state level organizations, for inclusion with community mobilisation and awareness. The RTE Forum has brought together networks, agencies and organisations working in the field of education both at state and national level to strengthen the mass movement.

<h3>About the Project: </h3>
<p>RTE Forum is a coalition of informal alliances of about 10,000 organisations across the country representing people’s voice. It has been critically engaged with governments to implement the provisions of the RTE act at National and State levels. It also aspires to train 100 volunteers across the country on various aspects of the law, rule and monitoring mechanisms to create a cadre to support SMCs, local organisations to raise the issue of education as the prime developmental agenda. </p>
<p>The Forum will continue its engagement with teachers under the banner of 'All India Primary Teachers Federation (AIPTF)' with the objective of bringing teachers on board to deepen the movement. A stock taking will be done at the end of 2015 of the entire set of compliances across the country with regard to Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education Act, 2009. </p>
<h3>Expected Results: </h3>
<ol>
<li>Draft Report of fifth year status of implementation of RTE Act.</li>
<li>Train 100 resource persons to take the movement forward. </li>
<li>Engage representatives from organisations working for Dalits, tribals, women and Muslims on the Right to Education.</li>
<li>Roundtables and awareness workshops on issues of quality, post 2015 education agenda.</li>
<li>National consultation on developing action points for national and state level advocacy.</li>
<li>Facilitating experience sharing of SMC members at regional / national levels.</li>
</ol>
<h3>Past Achievements:</h3>
<p>The RTE Forum created a network of organisations working in field of education from 15 states: Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, Jharkhand, Orissa, Chattisgarh, Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, Tamil Nadu, Pondicherry and West Bengal. It also established informal linkages in three states: Assam, Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh. Apart from establishing linkages with partner organisations, it strengthened its dialogue with the MHRD, NCPCR and other state level bodies. </p>
<p>The Forum successfully advocated for better implementation of RTE Act 2009 through continued dialogue and discussion with state agencies. The efforts resulted in issuance of multiple MHRD notifications, including those which defined the usage of terms like- out-of-school children, local authority in states. The forum has worked with NCPCR- the monitoring agency for the tracking of implementation of the RTE Act nationally. </p>
