Introduction

The project is in continuation of the programme undertaken last year to fight out hunger and malnutrition of children. To ensure food security for the poor, through effective implementation of the food security programme and identifying and tracking hunger in remote pockets of the state.

 

The project will thrust on campaigning for an effective policy to ensure food security to all. Besides that the organisation will work for time bound grievance redressal mechanism for addressing grievances of people relating to food security programme.

Impact by partner
  • Volunteers at the community level can now monitor food security schemes and raise issues with government departments
  • Systematic use of RTI as a strong tool to address issues related to food security schemes
  • Fact finding visits in six districts of Odisha and submitting a memorandum to the Chief Secretary based on the finding of the visits
  • State consultation on food security act, gaps in programme implementation, millet and organic farming promotion
  • Report on Cyclone Phailin advocacy which highlights how the government relief services and food security schemes have benefitted Phailin affected communities
