Introduction

The Voluntary Sector of India, today, is faced with challenges of accountability from its various stakeholders, primarily from the government, donors and the beneficiaries, secondary stakeholders being the other Voluntary Organisations and the Community at large. This is due to the fact that Voluntary Organizations deal with public funds and contributions to execute development programmes for the benefit of the target community. CA being a pioneering institution having set Norms for Good Practices for Voluntary Organisation and also being the only institution that is involved in Accreditation of Voluntary Organisations, it is being looked up also as a reference body on governance and disclosure related matters. CA is working towards building trust for voluntary organizations amongst all stakeholders through the promotion of improved governance and accountability practices within the voluntary sector. The numbers of Accredited Organizations by CA have gone up steadily and today CA stands with a total number of 440 Accredited organizations which was about 152 in the year 2010-11. Further, CA has been continuously sharing information of key events, workshops and seminars for the benefit of Accredited organizations. However, as the Indian Volunteer Sector space is very large, CA realizes that its effect to scale up Accreditation is an immediate priority.
