Institute of Media Studies (IMS) organized orientation programme of newly admitted students

Bhubaneswar: The welcome ceremony and orientation programme of newly admitted students of 2016-17 batch was held at Institute of Media Studies (IMS). Perfect education along with right skill training is the key to success for students. There is no short-cut to success except hard work, said CGM (News) of Sambad daily Bamapad Tripathy who graced the occasion as the chief guest.  Tripathy also highlighted on the skills and training required for professionals in the media industry. Apart from class teachings, students should get acquainted with the new technology and social media for better exposure, he added.   Speaking at a seminar on ‘Trends of Profession Education’ organised on the occasion, senior journalist and head of Odisha Live Nilambar Rath stressed on the use of technology in the media. Digital media is now playing a crucial role in faster dissemination of news and information gathering, he said. Rath also spoke on responsibilities of parents and teachers towards shaping a bright professional career of students. Addressing the gathering, Regional manager of OXFAM India, Odisha Akshaya Biswal advised the students to develop their personality in 360 degree manner and acquire employability skills during the two years studies. The social sector and media industry suffer from dearth of skilled and trained human resources and it can be resolved by addressing the issues relating to quality education and academic excellence, he said.  Director of IMS Prof Upendra Padhi wished the newly joined students success in professional career and advised the students to remain updated with technological changes which will help them to become smart professionals. Heads of MJMC, MSW, MFC and PMIR departments, faculty members and staff were present.
