Major Highlights from Agents of change felicitation event in Uttar Pradesh

On 23rd and 24th December we organized ‘Annual Partners Meet’ for our partners in Uttar Pradesh. The meet provided us an opportunity to  reflect on  the achievements and learnings under our thematic programmes.

Major highlights of the financial year were initiation of new alliance on gender justice, community endeavours making  seven villages open defecation free, rehabilitation of Muzaffarnagar riot survivors and their economic empowerment with the establishment of ‘Dona Patta’ (leave plates) and Dhup Batti’ (incensed sticks) plant and other life skill training programs, revival of livelihood of marginal Zardoji artisan by establishing Hunar Ghar (Skill Hub) and its market linkage, study on the status of women farmers, strengthening SMCs, child led advocacy & child tracking model and linkage with government institutions during ’16 Days Activism Campaign’ on ‘Social Norms on Devaluing Women and Girls’ etc. On second day an interactive session was organized on “Use of Media in Development Advocacy and Campaign” in which Mr. Nasir Hussain; senior journalist gave tips for dealing with media effectively. 

On 24th December, we organized “Agents of Change Felicitation Event’ in which eighteen selected community members were honoured for their positive efforts in the field of livelihood, women rights, elementary education, disaster risk reduction, communal harmony and urban poverty.  Before the felicitation started, an all women band named ‘Zindagi’ made the environment lively by its highly  motivational songs on women empowerment, education, health and livelihood issues. During felicitation program Ms. Juhie Singh; President; State Commission for Protection of Child Rights (SCPCR), Ms. Zarina Usmani; President; State Women Commission, Mr. Sarvendra Vikram Singh; Director; State Council for Education Training and Research, Dr Anis Ansari, IAS & former Vice Chancellor KMC, Urdu Arabic Farsi University Lucknow Ms. Shweta Singh; member; Women Commission, Ms. Nahid Lari Khan; member; SCPCR, Dr. Smriti Singh; Director; Mahila Samakhya, Mr. Aftab; Mr. Aftab; Unicef and other dignitaries awarded certificates and honour to change makers and appreciated them.
