Bringing Relief To Families: Kerala Flood Response

Ammini, Kunjipennu, Pathumma and Susheela have a few things in common. They are from Kerala and were drastically affected by the 2021 floods. They were all also facing immense financial struggles both before and after the pandemic, when the floods worsened their financial situation. The ‘Kerala Landslide and Flood Response Programme 2021’ was launched. Under this, 2771 families received food and relief kits.

Rebuilding Lives In Kerala

Sabitha, Savithri, Thankamma and Annamma have quite a few things in common. Their houses were either completely or partially destroyed in the landslides that occurred after multiple days of heavy rainfall in October 2021. The flood and landslides damaged houses, roads and left many stranded without phone connectivity and electricity. Oxfam India launched its ‘Kerala Landslide and Flood Response Programme 2021’ and provided ration and safety kit to 2771 families and cleaned and repaired 144 wells.

Supporting the Flood-Affected in Kerala

Jobin, Pankajakshi, Remya and Parvathy, though from different districts in Kerala suffered a similar fate in the October 2021 floods and landslides. They were all left without a source of income or food to feed their families. Oxfam India delivered dry ration and safety kits to 2771 families in Idukki, Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta and Kottayam.
