All donations made to Oxfam India are exempted under section 80G of the Income Tax Act which means that 50% of your donation amount will be eligible for tax exemption. Tax Exemption is not useful for foreign nationals as it may not be valid in their country.
Please note the Amendment in the Finance Act along-with the Circular number and date:
- If the 80 G certificate was to expire on or after 01.10.09, then there is no need of renewal as existing certificate is to be considered perpetual.
- As per the Finance (No.2) Act, 2009, Clause (vi) of Sec. 80G(5) has been omitted w.e.f. 1-10-2009. Organisation whose Sec. 80G exemption renewal falls after 1.10.2009 need not file for renewal. Existing approval shall be deemed to be continued in perpetuity unless specifically withdrawn. [Circular No. 7.2010, dated 27-10-2010].
