Climate change exhibition put up at UNDP Solution Exchange led knowledge mela

The environment  and climate change Community of the United Nations-led Solution Exchange organised a two-day visioning workshop entitled ``Transforming Knowledge into Development Effectiveness on Climate Change’’ on April 29 and 30, 2010 at the India Habitat Centre. More than 100 organizations participated in the event which witnessed group discussions, presentations, sharing of grass root learnings and a knowledge mela. 

Oxfam India participated in the knowledge mela where 15 leading NGO’s and members showcased their work.  In the knowledge mela, Oxfam India showcased its photo- exhibition on climate change adaptation models revolving around (a) sustainable agriculture (b) land & water management (pasture land/forest) and adaptation (c) adaptation in DRR areas.

The knowledge mela was divided under four thematic areas for display and the plenary in lieu to the line with the themes being discussed in breakaway sessions earlier during the day. These were access to clean energy and energy efficiency, sustainable habitats and eco-systems,  agriculture and forestry and awareness

The knowledge mela participants presented their work/ experience/ ideas/ on a topic through poster, printed material, or demo models. The emphasis was on the issue discussed rather than the display of products and technologies. 

Oxfam India’s exhibition showcased adaptation models on forestry, sustainable agriculture and pastureland management and models from DRR areas. The exhibition was structured in such a way that the first one hour, the participants raised queries and the second part of exhibition saw a moderated discussion around various stalls.
