Send a smiling girl to school

Don't let Rani's future be erased

Don't let Rani's future be erased, instead let an eraser come in handy for her...at school

In rural India, it is extremely difficult for girls to go to school. And even if they manage to do, the drop-out rate is alarming. Even as small a thing as having to take care of younger siblings while parents work can keep them out of school.

And yet a concerned individual like you will appreciate, it is sustained attendance at school that will help change a girl child's destiny.

At Oxfam India, we have been able to achieve 100 per cent enrolment and quality education of girl children with the Samajshala project, already operating in 20 villages in Maharashtra. Rani Shinde, the eight-year old in the picture at the top is one such girl who has benefited from the project.

The Oxfam mission to impart improved primary education for all girl children is now being extended to cover other parts of rural India. Oxfam reaches out to spread awareness, convince parents, ensure that girls do not drop out and work with school teachers to make certain children are kept engaged at school.

We need your support to make the change in their lives happen.
